A Witness for the Lord

Making my blog a witness for the Lord

Witness

My blog has been active for almost three years.  The first year and a half I barely used it. The task of setting up a blog overwhelmed me.  I wrote more consistently after that, but toward the end of the summer I dropped it for awhile.  My biggest goal for my blog was to make money to relieve some of the financial stress on my husband.  My secondary goals consisted of sharing the things I have learned from my parenting and homeschooling, and also to be a witness for the Lord.   In this last year, I have attempted to follow the “prescription” of a blogging class for which I signed up.  This course gave me a chance to follow step by step instructions about how to build a money making blog.  Because of my love for lists, this course seemed perfect.

Even though I loved following the prescription, my blog has been less than successful.  It did not pan out, and I got confused.  Throughout the past year I believe that God has impressed upon my heart that He wants my blog to be a witness for Him.  I now realize that that goal should be my main focus for my blog.  So even though I might not make any money with my blog, I want this blog to be a witness for the Lord.

Sharing my knowledge and my testimony

Following that goal, my focus through my blog will be to help other moms, those who homeschool, and those who do not.  I want to share my testimony and what God has been doing and teaching me in my life.   So many blog posts that I have read tell me that a successful or viral blog post contains something that will help my readers.  I agree with that, but I struggle with putting it into practice.

In order for my blog posts to give some help to my readers, I believe that I need to know something that they don’t.  I need to have figured out the solution to the problem that I want to help my readers with.  However, as each day passes, I realize more and more how little I actually have figured out.  There is nowhere in my life where I have “arrived”.

I am not an expert at anything.  I can’t give you foolproof solutions for how to homeschool, or what curriculum to use, or anything else that moms like me have to deal with.  The only thing that I can do is to share my story and pray that some of it will help you.

My posts will reflect my goal to be a witness for the Lord

So, starting this week, you will find some different posts on my blog.  Right now I am planning on one post per week.  My writing goes in spurts – times of overflowing, and dry times.  I am going to try to write as much as possible during those overflowing times so that I have posts to come out every week.  My posts will be about homeschooling, parenting, my faith, but mostly about Him.  You will find reference to Him in every blog post that I write.

I am not good at sharing my faith with someone face to face.  But the Lord has shown me that I can use this creative outlet to share the Gospel with anyone who reads it, and that is exactly what I am going to do.  Whether or not my blog makes any money is now going to be secondary to my blog’s main purpose: to share the Gospel.  This blog will be a witness for the Lord and what He is doing in my life.  Until the Lord comes to take us home, that is the only thing that really matters.

Throughout each post, you will find references to my faith in God and what He can do.  At the end of each post will be a link to the ABC’s of salvation.  I pray that my blog will glorify Him, and that He will use it to spread His Word.

I would love to hear from all of my readers, so don’t hesitate to comment on any  blog posts!
